7UP Recall: Check Your Cans, Zambians!
By Mwansa Chisanga
Listen up, Zambia! That fizzy drink you love might not be what it says on the can. A massive recall has hit 7UP Tropical Zero Sugar in the United States, and it's a wake-up call for all of us who care about what we put in our bodies.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified a recall of 7UP Tropical Zero Sugar as Class II because the product, which is supposed to be sugar-free, may actually contain undeclared sugar. That's a big deal, especially for folks watching their sugar intake or managing diabetes.
What Went Wrong With 7UP Tropical Zero Sugar?
Admiral Beverage Corporation, which bottles 7UP, initiated the recall on August 20, 2026. A total of 3,240 cases were affected, which means a whopping 77,760 cans could be mislabeled. The problem? Cans labeled as 7UP Tropical Zero Sugar might actually contain the full-sugar version, which packs a serious 38 grams of sugar per can.
This isn't the first time either. Back in August 2025, the same product was recalled for the same reason, though it involved a different bottler and distribution pattern. It seems like the big soda companies are having a hard time keeping their labels straight.
Why Should Zambians Care About This?
