Jesy Nelson Opens Door to Little Mix Reunion Despite Years of Drama
Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has surprised fans by suggesting a full band reunion could happen in the future, despite the bitter fallout that followed her dramatic exit in 2020.
The 34-year-old singer, who left the British girl group amid controversy and personal struggles, told The Sun that motherhood has changed her perspective on the past drama with former bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards.
"We're all mums now and I can't speak on behalf of them, but I'd like to think that we probably see things a lot differently now," Nelson revealed ahead of her upcoming documentary "Life After Little Mix" launching on Prime Video next week.
From Sisters to Strangers
Nelson's departure from Little Mix in December 2020 was far from smooth. The "Boyz" singer previously admitted she hadn't spoken to her former bandmates in two years following her exit, which came with significant drama and public speculation.
However, reflecting on her time in the group while preparing her documentary, Nelson struck a surprisingly positive tone about their shared success.
"That's the reason why Little Mix were so successful because we genuinely were like sisters at one point, we were genuinely best friends," she explained, acknowledging that despite the "crappy times" related to her mental health struggles, the majority of her experience was "incredible."
Personal Challenges Take Priority
While fans may be excited about reunion possibilities, Nelson's immediate focus remains on her family. The singer recently revealed her 8-month-old twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a serious inherited neuromuscular disorder.
This devastating diagnosis has put her music career on hold as she prioritizes her children's health needs.
"With everything that's going on right now and with my girls, I can't even look that far ahead, but I'll always love music," Nelson said, admitting uncertainty about her future in the entertainment industry.
Little Mix's Current Status
Following Nelson's departure, the remaining trio released one album before announcing their own hiatus in 2022. Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall have since launched solo careers with their own albums, while Leigh-Anne Pinnock is preparing to release her debut solo work this month.
Despite the years of silence and public tension, Nelson's "never say never" attitude toward a reunion offers hope to the millions of fans who supported the group during their decade-long run at the top of the British pop scene.
Her documentary promises to reveal never-before-seen footage and provide her side of the Little Mix story when it premieres on February 13.
